In this critical area of focus, three out of five children die before age 5. A major contributing factor is the lack of clean, safe water—partner with Godlink to help us drill water wells. The average cost of one water well is between $4,000-$5,000. Water means life. Water means health, hygiene, dignity, and productivity. Water in spiritual connotations implies a connection with creation, community, and oneself. Water symbolizes peace, harmony, and preservation. Water is a critical component of food security and nutrition. In 2023, Godlink repaired a water well for just $20 that now serves an entire school.

The effects of poverty and education are inextricably linked from generation to generation. Godlink is making efforts to break these generational chains through its support of education. Books, desks, supplies, the required uniform, and teacher training are just the short list of what Godlink provides through donor funding. Godlink also focuses on helping people attain life skills in areas such as sewing and agriculture. Education is the key to breaking the cycle of poverty. Education is a powerful tool that can make the world a better place.

EDUCATION

Godlink provides a feeding program for over 550 students at Chifundo, Kamwala, and Mkapala Community schools. It’s our goal to ensure that each student receives a well-balanced meal every school day (270 days per year). Hunger is a worldwide epidemic and affects learning by curbing a child’s physical development, inhibiting their ability to focus and perform, and limiting their future achievements.

FOOD

Zambia is landlocked and its people and government face many challenges. Children make up almost 50% of the population. Subjected to severe poverty, Zambian children, families, and even teachers face a lack of basic needs. Godlink seeks to provide a safe place for children to learn and be protected from the elements as they learn. In its first year, the organization provided roofs for schools with villagers providing hand-made bricks. Godlink also recently built a new school from the ground up. As Godlink’s reach and relationships continue to expand, our dreams include outfitting and build more schools as well as providing lodgings for teachers.
